The Green Guard Turf
K9 Guard Ultra after-install care guide
Settling in
The first 30 days
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| First 24 hours | Keep pets and foot traffic light if you can. Seams are bonded with TEC 149 adhesive and continue curing after the crew leaves. Your lawn was treated with an enzyme cleaner at handover to activate the odor system. |
| First 2 weeks | You may see some infill granules on the surface. This is normal as the layers settle into the fibers. Brush them back in with a stiff synthetic broom; do not sweep or blow them off the lawn. |
| First 30 days | Watch your dogs’ favorite spots. If any area holds odor, drains slowly, or shows digging at an edge, call us and we will treat or re-secure it at no charge. |
| Drain check | Water hosed across the lawn should drain away within about 5 minutes. Standing water means something needs attention. Give us a call. |
Your to-do list
Routine care schedule
| How often | Task | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Daily | Pick up solid waste. Hose off any residue left behind. | Solids left in the sun are the main source of odor and bacteria. |
| Weekly | Hose down your dogs’ favorite potty areas thoroughly. In summer, do it two or three times a week. Blow off leaves and debris. | Flushes urine down through the backing and infill before it concentrates. |
| Monthly | Spray a pet-safe enzyme turf cleaner (PE-51 or equivalent) on potty areas, then brush the full lawn in two or three directions with a stiff synthetic broom. | Enzymes break down urine residue; brushing keeps infill even and fibers upright. |
| Each season | Pull any weeds by hand. In fall, blow leaves off more often. After storms, clear debris and confirm water drains quickly. | Debris and leaves trap moisture and odor in the pile. |
| Annually | Schedule a Green Guard service: ZeoFill replenishment, deep power-brush, enzyme treatment, and seam and edge inspection. We supply the ZeoFill. | ZeoFill gets used up as it traps ammonia. Topping it off restores full odor control. |
Protecting your surface
Do’s and don’ts
Do
- Pick up solid waste daily and hose the spot down.
- Use a pet-safe enzyme cleaner on potty areas.
- Use a stiff synthetic broom or plastic-bristle brush.
- Keep water bowls on a mat or patio so spills drain cleanly.
- Keep grills, fire pits, and heaters on a pad or patio, well away from the turf.
- Call us if your dog starts digging at an edge or seam.
- Call us before adding any infill. K9 Guard Ultra uses ZeoFill and Envirofill only.
Don’t
- Add silica sand, play sand, or crumb rubber. They trap urine and can only be fixed by replacing the turf.
- Use bleach, ammonia-based, or harsh chemical cleaners. They are hard on pets and the turf.
- Use weed killers that are not labeled pet-safe.
- Use wire brushes, metal rakes, or a pressure washer at close range.
- Drop cigarettes, fireworks, or hot ash anywhere near the surface.
- Lay mats, tarps, or rubber pads on the turf for long periods. They block drainage.
- Drive stakes, staples, or nails through the turf.
Clean-up
Quick fixes for odor, spills and stains
| Issue | What to do |
|---|---|
| Lingering urine odor | Hose the area thoroughly, apply an enzyme turf cleaner, and let it soak in. If odor persists, call us. The ZeoFill may need a top-off. |
| Diarrhea or vomit | Remove what you can, hose well, then apply enzyme cleaner. Brush to lift any residue from the fibers. |
| Drinks, food, sunscreen | Blot, then rinse with water. For sticky residue, use a mild dish soap and water mix, then rinse well. |
| Gum, sap, wax | Harden with an ice cube, then gently lift off with a plastic scraper. Do not cut the fibers. |
| Oil, grease, paint | Blot immediately with paper towels and call us. Do not use solvents. |
