These are not our prices. They are the figures published by cost guides and one national installer, quoted exactly and dated, so you can sanity-check any quote you receive, including ours.

Read across those sources, a professionally installed lawn in 2026 lands somewhere between roughly $10 and $20 per square foot in most guides, with the lowest figures reflecting lighter turf and simpler sites. On a 1,000-square-foot yard, LawnLove’s typical $12.75 per square foot works out to $12,750; Homewyse’s national average range works out to $16,080 to $19,740. Five things that move the number
Two yards of the same size can be a long way apart. These are the parts of an installation that set the price, in the order they usually matter.
1. The turf line
Face weight is fiber per square yard, and more fiber costs more. We select the correct face weight for the job: 50-65oz for yards, 85-100oz for playgrounds. Every line we install is listed with its face weight, total weight and pile height on our turf range page.
2. The base
Heavy labor and ground engineering to create a stable, long-lasting base: excavation 3-4 inches deep, compacted Flex Base topped with decomposed granite, drainage graded away from the house, and a heavy-duty weed barrier. This critical phase determines the longevity of your turf installation, and it is where a cheap quote usually cuts.
3. Shape and edges
Intricate cuts around stones, trees and curved beds with tight fits and minimal gaps. A rectangle is quick; a yard with a pool, a patio, beds and a tree line is not, and the cutting time is in the price.
4. The infill
Ballast applied at a calculated weight per square foot. Specialized options, antimicrobial infills for pets, zeolite for odor control and temperature-regulating options for Texas heat, cost more than plain silica sand.
5. Special systems
Putting greens with fringes, cups and specific silica sand for controlled ball-roll speed, and playgrounds with shock-absorbing underlays and safety infills, are built differently from a lawn and priced as such. See putting greens and specialized turf systems.
