The Green Guard Turf
Tour Master after-install care guide
Your printed guide is titled “Tour Master Pro Poly”. That is this line, Tour Master, our polyethylene putting surface. Tour Master Pro is a different, nylon line. If that is what you have, call us for its care instructions.
Settling in
The first 30 days
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| First 24 hours | Keep foot traffic light. Seams are bonded with TEC 149 adhesive and continue curing after the crew leaves. No furniture, coolers, or equipment on the green. |
| First 2 weeks | You may see some fine sand on the surface. This is normal as the 30/50 silica infill settles into the fibers. Brush it back in with a stiff synthetic broom; do not sweep or blow it off the green. |
| First 30 days | Putt from every cup and note any spot that rolls slow, bounces, or breaks off line. Call us and we will top off infill and re-brush that area at no charge. |
Your to-do list
Routine care schedule
| How often | Task | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | Blow off leaves, twigs, and debris with a leaf blower on low, held at an angle. Pick up anything the blower misses. | Organic debris breaks down into soil that grows weeds and slows the roll. |
| Every 2–3 weeks | Brush the full green with a stiff synthetic broom in two or three directions. Pay extra attention to the area around each cup and your favorite putting lines. | Keeps infill even and stands poly fibers back up in your most-used putting lines. |
| Monthly | Rinse the green with a garden hose. Clear any debris or standing water from the cups. Walk the edges and seams and look for lifting or loose spots. | Removes dust and pollen; catches small issues before they grow. |
| Each season | Do a ball-roll check from every cup. Pull any weeds along the perimeter by hand. In fall, blow leaves off more often (twice a week during heavy drop). | DFW fall leaf drop and spring pollen are the two biggest maintenance seasons. |
| Annually | Schedule a Green Guard professional service: deep power-brush, infill check and top-off, seam and edge inspection, and cup service. | Restores tournament-ready speed. |
Protecting your surface
Do’s and don’ts
Do
- Wear flat-soled or soft-spike golf shoes.
- Use a stiff synthetic broom or plastic-bristle brush.
- Rinse spills right away with water; use mild dish soap for anything sticky.
- Remove pet waste promptly and hose the spot down.
- Lift and carry furniture, coolers, and equipment on and off the green.
- Keep grills, fire pits, and heaters well away from the turf.
- Call us before adding any infill. Tour Master uses fine 30/50 silica only.
Don’t
- Wear metal spikes or take divots when chipping onto the green.
- Use wire brushes, rakes, or a pressure washer at close range.
- Use solvents, bleach, petroleum products, or harsh weed killers on the turf.
- Drop cigarettes, fireworks, or hot ash anywhere near the surface.
- Drag furniture or park vehicles, mowers, or ATVs on the green.
- Add Envirofill, coated sand, or standard 20/40 sand. They ruin the roll.
- Drive stakes, staples, or nails through the turf for any reason.
Clean-up
Quick fixes for spills and stains
| Spill or issue | What to do |
|---|---|
| Drinks, food, sunscreen | Blot, then rinse with water. For sticky residue, use a mild dish soap and water mix, then rinse well. |
| Gum, sap, crayon, wax | Harden with an ice cube, then gently lift off with a plastic scraper. Do not cut the fibers. |
| Pet waste | Remove solids, then hose the area thoroughly. A pet-safe enzyme turf cleaner helps with odor. |
| Oil, grease, paint | Blot immediately with paper towels and call us. Do not use solvents. |
| Weeds at the edges | Pull by hand. Weeds root in debris on top of the turf or at the perimeter, so regular blowing prevents most of them. |
