The short answer is on the spec sheet: every lawn line we install carries a 15-year material warranty, and so do K9 Guard Ultra and the nylon putting surface. The longer answer is that a warranty covers the material, and most of what makes a turf lawn look old is not the material. It is four things underneath and around it, all of them decided at installation or in routine care.
What the warranty is for
We exclusively install heavyweight (50oz-111oz) UV-stabilized turf designed to withstand the harsh Texas sun without fading or melting. The fiber matters here: polyethylene runs cooler than Olefin and springs back upright after foot traffic, which is why the premium lines state a pure PE face. The 15-year material warranty covers that fiber against the Texas sun. It is not a promise about the base, the seams or the infill, which are ours and yours respectively.
1. The base decides whether it stays flat
Turf is only as good as what is underneath it. A properly built base, 3 to 4 inches of excavation, compacted Flex Base topped with decomposed granite, drainage graded away from the house and a commercial-grade weed barrier, is what keeps the surface flat, dry and level in year seven and year fifteen. Skip the depth or the compaction and the lawn dips long before the fiber is tired. The layers are explained in our base guide.
2. Seams decide whether it stays whole
Synthetic turf expands in the heat and contracts in the cold, and thermal contraction can pull seams apart, sometimes by as much as 4 inches. Acclimating the roll before it is secured, seaming with specialized tape and structural adhesives, and weighing the whole system down with infill are the three steps that keep seams closed. 3. Infill decides whether the fibers stand up
Infill is ballast. It holds the turf down, protects the backing and keeps the fibers upright. It also settles, washes and migrates, so the single most useful thing an owner does for a turf lawn is have it power-broomed and topped up when it thins. 4. Reflected heat, and what sits on it
The sun alone rarely melts turf; reflected heat from energy-efficient windows can, because synthetic polyethylene fibers can melt around 200°F. That is a design problem, identified at the site assessment and designed around, and it is covered in our heat guide. The other avoidable damage is matting: heavy items, like inflatable pools or furniture, left in one spot for too long. Move them, and power brooming lifts the rest.
So, how long?
The material is warranted for 15 years. A lawn on a proper base, with closed seams, topped-up infill and no reflected-heat hotspot, has no reason to look tired inside that window, and nothing in the warranty stops it lasting beyond it. A lawn laid on a thin base with dry seams will look old in a fraction of the time, whatever the fiber is rated for.
